pwc with water softner??

the new house we are buying has a water softner system. People who have a softner, do you use it or reg water. i would have to use an outside water. Just trying to do some research before i move

I have a private well with a water softener system that I've been using for close to 15 years without issue, I've breed everything from discus to large new world cichlids in softened water. I will say that most softeners including mine have a bypass valve the eliminates the system but I usually forget to use it.

So I keep hearing mixed opinions on using water softner water.. Anyone want to share their advice

I have a water softener too, and have been doing pwc's without bypassing it for over 3 years without a problem. (I do treat with prime prior to adding it to the tank because I have city water.)

So when I do the initial fill to cycle it, should I use well water or the softened water?
