I want to turn my 10G i to a quarantine tank. Its setup in my living room next to my main tank so I would like to keep it running since its already out in the open and i have plants growing in it. I would like to just put a bunch of cherry shrimp in it, but i'm not sure if they will produce enough of a bioload to keep the filter cycled. I was thinking maybe 20 or so might. Any suggestions?

I would prefer to have shrimp but my last option would be to get a cheap fish like a guppy or something and move them over to the main tank if a fish gets sick.

I hope this helps

I think your set up is perfect the way you said, if it has been running, everything should be in balance.

My 10 gallon tank quarantine tank just has plants, sand and a cave...it has been running for 5 months and any new fish I buy have went through it ok.
