question aboot botia loaches

I got a pair of botia loaches a few days ago, and I'm not quite sure, but I remembered them to both look the same when I got them. However, the day after, I noticed one was much paler than the other. Is this a sign of deteriorating health, or is this just what separates males from females and I was just oblivious to it in the store? Thanks!

Likely stress. Have you tested your water recently?

If all is well with your water, (ie: 0 [acronym:b8ad9c5982="Ammonia"]NH3[/acronym:b8ad9c5982], [acronym:b8ad9c5982="Nitrite"]NO2[/acronym:b8ad9c5982], minimal [acronym:b8ad9c5982="Nitrate"]NO3[/acronym:b8ad9c5982]) I'd just be patient for a few more days while the fish adapts.

The nitrates are slightly high (60-80) as I'm waiting on my petsmart gift card, so I can get my python, but maybe I'll just get it anyways, return it when the GC comes, and then buy it again hope they let me get away with it!
