Question about getting a new filter.

If I get a new filter will that effect the biological filtration of my established tank?

if you take the old one off yes i think it would.
i would run both filters for a few weeks to get the bacteria built up in the new filter but keep the old one running at the same time so you dont loose it.
i know thats how you do it but im not exactually sure how long.

yes. there would be less. take out old filter media and put it in new one for 1 month with new media (if possible).

Run both filters at the same time for a good 4 to 6 weeks.
