Questionable Growth

On one of my structures i have a white almost powdery looking growth on it.
it is only in small amounts and hasnt appeared to be spreading.

could this be fungus growth

What are the possiblities?

This is common on some driftwoods, the fish eat it and it tends to go away, you didn't state what the "structure" was made of, so I'm just taking a guess.

The structure is a piece i picked up at a petco. its just the front half of a ship. It is commenly sold at pet stores in various sizes.

I wouldnt call it cotton because it doesnt appear overly fuzzy

Its more like a white paint look
