This may be a good one for madasafish or webmoose to tackle...

I was j/w if there were any cons of mixing different species of rainbowfish?

I realize that they would be less willing to breed but I cant think of anything else, really. Assuming that the water parameters all mimic each others needs, it should be okay.

Plus, the only ones that I would be mixing are Boesmans and the Lake Tebera (yellow) rainbows.

Thanks

No cons that I can think of. And I imagine that in the case of yellow and yellow-orange/blue rainbowfish, you might still have quite a lot of displaying to impress females (because of the similarity of body shape and color). So, in fact, this may not retard breeding efforts at all. I mixed Praecox and Boeseman rainbows together for a while without problems.

I agree my Madasafish my Bosemani and Praxecox share the space with no issues.. sometimes the praecox leave the Bosemani to flair around at each other but If i was a praxecox watching them bounce around the tank flairing/coloring I would probably leave them alone also.. hehe

Bosemani and the yellows sound like a cool mix!
