Whatever floats your boat?
Totally personal choice. Some people prefer a natural biotope, keeping fish that would naturally be in the wild together and some prefer to keep fish from around the world together, as long as the can comfortably live in the same conditions and not eat each other.

LOL Thanks for the laugh I needed it today.
I guess I prefer keeping native fish together...but variation does look pretty cool.
