River rocks vs sand stones

I'm on vacation and found lots of river rocks and want to know if a tank would look better with river rocks which are round or sand stones which are flat. And to those who have seen a pic of my tank would it look better as is or with round rocks instead of sand stones? It will be a heavily planted tank.
