Have 1 Black Molly, 1 Neon Swordtail, 1 GBR in a 29 gal.
Read about Molly preferring salt in water. How MUST is this and how do other fish tolerate it? (GBR for example)

It is not a must at all, they are freshwater fish. Mollies are unique in that in the wild they can go in to brackish and even full marine in search of food, but they do not do this permanently. Aquarium mollies are bred on freshwater farms and kept in freshwater systems at (most) LFSs. In addition, the ram prefers very soft water, definitely no salt.

Have salt on hand in case you see signs of stress in any of the fish, but do not add it on a regular basis in any freshwater tank.
