Schooling help.!?

i have 6 neon tetras,4 glo-light,7glo-fish,and just added 3 pink kissing gourami yesterday morning.
i thought that the tetras should be schooling?? they stay in a group but no schooling..
does any one have schooling neon tetras??? HELP?>?>

It really depends on the tank their in and the group size. If they have a lot of real estate to cover then they are more likely to school and usually you will get a good schooling look when theyre in about 10 because you usually have one or two that stray off.

I think it also depends on how threatened they feel. My tetras often are dispersed throughout my 120 but then they'll suddenly all group themselves together. I assume that its often a result of movement from me triggering it.

My neons especially spread out more than the other fish which surprises me a little since they're the most bite sized!

i have a 40 gallon tank but its a corner/hexagon tank. maybe its because its not a long enough tank???
