Hi Guys and Girls,

I'm new to the hobby, have got meself a 70L tank and am stocking 6 Serpae Tetras & 10 Neon Tetras currently. I've noticed that 1 or 2 of the Serpae are constantly harassing the Neon Tetra population. I'm quite pissed that the guy at the pet shop said that the two would go well together with no issues...

I've heard that maybe getting a few more Serpae would calm things down a bit? also how close am I to my recommended fish population in my 70L tank?
Thanks :)

Hi, welcome to AA :)

I've got 8 and I'm thinking of getting some more. Usually I find 6 to 8 a good number but some are getting quite ratty fins from being nipped.

Neons I thought would have gone ok.

You could try putting the worse two in a breeding net for a few days and see if they settle down. Otherwise may be easier to swap if you can.

I wouldn't trust them with a betta (too slow and showy on finage) but they have been fine otherwise in my tank and just argue amongst themselves.
