setting up qt tank tetra filter media question

Hi all! I picked up a 10 gallon tank of craigslist to set up as a QT. It comes with a tetra whisper ex20 craptacular filter and no media.

Is there any reason I can't use whatever I want in there as media (I currently use a aquaclear 50 on my DT and it looks like I could put that stuff in the tetra filter?) instead of the cartridges?

Looking for ways to easily set up the QT when needed. I use sponge covers on my aquaclear filter intake and I shoved another one into the filter itself to seed and then put on the tetra when I run the QT. Good enough?

That sounds good, maybe you could put in a little pillow stuffing also? I have heard that it really works great.

I think "craptacular" should be put in the dictionary

Ur the first I've heard anyone talk about qt tank, good job!! Every aquarist should have one. I think ur plan sounds good.
