Shells and ph?

I have these really great saltwater snail shells that I thing would look great in my aquarium. But it seems to me that there a lot of potential problems with this. I've heard they raise ph is the main one, and since my ph is 8.3 already, that wouldnt be good. Do they raise it to a certain point then stop,or continue to raise it all the time? They've been boiled many times and scrubbed inside and out, and my cousin is using them in his tank (he doesn't ever test his water but his fish are fine) and they look great! So I probably won't end up using them but I thought I'd ask anyway.

i dont think theyed be a problem

Your water is already hard, so the shells will not dissolve to raise hardness, nor will they raise the pH.
