Should cycling smell?

I did a water change and replaced some of the media and I think I must have taken out too much since it seems that my tank is cycling. However there is a slight smell. Is this common or could it be something else. Because two days ago the water was clean now is murky. ( I can not even see inside it) . I am thinking that it must have went into a cycle but I have not had this happen like this before murky and smelling days after a water and filter change.

Are you using prime? You will get a sulphur smell with it. A milky water column is usually a bacteria bloom.

I normally don't use any additives to my water. The coloration is grayish so I guess it is bacteria bloom.

Any tips on fighting that?

During a cycle it's a good thing. Otherwise water changes. Try to figure out what is feeding the bloom.
