Shrimp and snails as tankmates

Can anyone think of any reason not to put small neocaridina shrimp and apple/ramshorn/pond snails together in the same breeding tank? Neither adult will eat the other, obviously. As far as breeding, the shrimp are livebearers, so the snails have no chance of snarfing the young'ns, and since the snails lay their eggs above water, the shrimp shouldn't be able to get at them. Is there anything I haven't thought of that would be problematic?

It also seems like the two types might do well together because they both like calcium-rich, hardish water so they can grow their shells/carapaces/whatever.

I always thought bumblebee shrimp were near impossible to breed, and not very hardy to begin with. I've never kept them, but if they are as hard to breed as I'm thinking, my guess is that it'd be better to keep them seperate. Mainly since the snails are such water polluters.
