slow snails dyin' fast

what's up with this?
i have a 30 gal with all good readings, but snails keep turning up dead. these are the big black snails. one i found totally disintigrated in his shell and had another one today that had something that looked like snot coming out of his shell and he was dead too. i've lost a few others as well. what gives?

dont snails themselves look like snot? anyways, how long you had the tank up? there might not be enough algae and stuff for them to eat, they could be starving. hard to know unless you give a little more info about the tank.

the tanks been up for about 5 months.
and yes, snails look like black snot, but this was white snot. it looks like snot, but it'snot.

Check copper levels, willing to bet they're high. Snails are fairly copper sensative.
