solitary fish species

i have a 20gal tank with 7 tetra in it planning to get more soon and a female fighter with plenty of wood, plants and rocks lately i've been thinking of making a new addition but dont want to overcrowd maby something that would be happy alone or as a pair any suggestions

How about a small pleco, like a rubberlip, clown, or bristlenose?

Dwarf gourami if you dont want as big a bio-load as a pleco. But I think either would be great.
