Im noticing that they produce alot of ammonia. I did a 50% this morning. He will be up graded to a bigger tank as soon as my daughter's room is done. Maybe a month.
 
In a smaller tank with the higher levels on your testing. If you don't feel comfortable doing a 50% water change then might try 2-25% water changes. That way you don't stress him out. There where times when my 10 gallon got high ammonia levels and I had to do 50% then 25% or even another 50% back to back. Just test your water and change til it reads what it needs to read to be good. With Betta's to avoid fin rot. The water should stay as close to steady as possible. No stress. They are delicate little creatures.[emoji4]
