Sponge Bob, Square Bacteria?

The latest studies on nitrifying bacteria show that some of these bacterium defy taking on the simplest shape - natures tendency towards equilibrium. Some are actually square and rectangle!!!!

I thought this was interesting - not the exact article I read 1st..but close...:
