Stocking 36 Gallon

I'm thinking about stocking my 36 gallon bow front with:

1 Blue gourami
10 Flame Tetras
6 Corydoras
6 Hatchetfish

Would this work? If not I'd love some suggestions of what I could do. Thanks.

I would say yes, it will work

I think that you can even add something else, like an algae eater, such as britlenose pletco, or a Siamese algae eater.

FishProfiles.com - Profile List FishProfiles.com - Profile List i hope this helps most of the fish on those 2 sites are great the tetras i would get at least 6 and the barbs i would get at least 3.. i would get 3 corrys, 2 clown loaches and a cray fish of some sort for your bottom fish, a few diferent gouramis (2-3) for your mid level... maby a pair of angels but get them no bigger then 3" so they grow to the tank, then 3 diferent types of schooling fish that includes barbs (at least 3) ,and tetras what ever you think looks cool (at least 6)... and for top water i would get 2 butterfly fish and maby 5 hatchet fish..just have some decor/plants in the tank so the little fish can hid if need be...none on the fish should eat the other fish or nip fins if you feed them once a day ever day you can miss a day once and a while but not more then 2 days or the small chance of them eating each other gets bigger by the day

Ejaramillo - thanks

redruckus - I'm not sure if you saw that it's only a 36 gallon, but even I know that would be overstocking. I also know its never good advice to tell people to get fish so they will "grow to the tank", because it is harmful to the fish.

I still think that for a 36 G tank, 3 gouramies and a pair of angels is not going to be good.

I liked iam10st815 original suggestion, that will give him room to decide if he wants to add something else.

Just be sure that your tank is fully cycled (nitrogen cycle), before you add any fish, if your tank is new, be sure that you understand the nitrogen cycle ( read the link attached below my name), once is cycled add your fish slowly, you can start with the tetras, later on the corys, etc.

Good luck

I agree with Edgar, the angels and the Gouramis will definately have territory issues. It's always good to under stock, in case something catches your eye at your LFS.

This list looks good. You may be able to add another school of small tetras or rasboras.

Thanks guys. btw, ejaramillo, I'm a girl, but it's cool, haha.

I was also considering the option of 3 honey gouramis (1 male, 2 female) instead of 1 blue gourami, do you think that would work, or should I stick to my original idea?

I have a honey gourami, and it's the cutest little thing. (minus the fact it only has one eye). =) I'd totally vote for honeys.
