Need ideas for stocking a lightly planted 55 gallon tank
Currently has 1 betta in it but I can move it.

I would like:

1-2 rope fish
1 red tail shark

I'm open to any ideas!
And thanks in advance.

Talk about Rope Fish? Interesting... I know nothing about them? I just looked at a pic on the web and they're kind creepy! LOL!

I think they look awesome, I saw them at the fish store they are like really long and skinny bichirs.

With 2 ropefish and red tail, your bottom would be filled. So maybe some top and mid dwellers.
1 Gold, 1 Opaline Gourami, 6 congo tetras or
1 Angel 15 Cardinal Tetras or
6 Rainbows and 8 snakeskin Barbs.

I'm not a huge fan of Gourami but I do like the idea of a big school of something!

I'm thinking of getting the fish this weekend, so far what I am thinking for stocking is:

1-2 rope fish
3 yoyo loaches
1 rainbow shark

anyone think it wont work, or is there anything i can add?

I'd say ditch the Red-tail (better in a 75+gal) and go with a Rainbow Shark (look similar). Red tails get territorially aggressive as they mature and you can have one that claims the entire tank (like mine:D) as it's territory.

For either a Red tail or Rainbow, you'll need to establish territories with DW, caves and plants.

yea, I switched it on the post before yours, I updated to:

1-2 rope fish
1 rainbow shark
3 yoyo loaches

don't know what else i can add (if they can all go together).
Thanks for your input thought!

so I bought my first impulse buy...a crayfish... now my stocking is changed lol
