Hello, I have a 55 gallon that is cycling right now. It has gravel and plants in it (vallisneria swords and another type of plant) I dont know what I want to put in it. I was thinking angel fish but I'm still not sure. what do you think?

Can you keep angels and gouramis together?

I have read on other sites that it is okay to keep the two together and others have had success. Be careful not to keep small fish with them like neons and most small tetras as they will get eaten

I would do 2 angels .if you could get a pair of them that would be great. If not you might have to sell one of them . Then i would do this :

2 pearl or sparkling gourami .
A school of either 12 chilli Rasboras or 12 cardinal tetra. Be wary e tetras may be nippy
10 or 8 panda Cories
A handful of shrimp

Green terror

Problem is they aren't very community fish. I wouldn't recommend one because you can't get much more else in there. Plus you couldn't fit many cichlids in a 55

That's why a pair was suggested in a species tank. I should've been more clear. They are amazing fish but need space, and I think a pair would go nicely in a 55.

He never said he wanted community. Yeah either do a pair or do something like i have.

1 male GT- 6 in
2 senegal bichirs- 5 inch

The green terror completely ignores the bichirs and all of these fish have unmatched personality. This is by far my favorite tank ive kept so far and doesnt come close to an angels tank. Heres some pics of the tank and fish (keep in mind the pics are from an iphone so they dont do the GT justice). I have black gravel and black background because it makes te GTs colors pop!

But he did say he wanted angels. Jmo but one fish in that size tank with another two fish isn't really what I would do. Plus he said he was interested in angels , so i was giving options to do with them

What gets bigger JD's or GT's?

They both get around 9 inches. Mine male is only about 6 inches he'll probably max at around 7 to 8 inches. I like GTs way more than JDs

A pair of angels would be cool. And maybe a pleco like a rubber lip. But a pair of JDs or GTs would be cool. Normal JDs look good too.

In the past I have had both and both make a good looking, interactive pet. My JD would always swim up to me when I came in the room and he let me touch him. And my GT laid eggs but sadly their was no male. ):

Where could I get these? My lfs doesn't sell them and i dont think I would find them in petsmart...
