I currently have a 10 gal tank that is cycling. While it is doing that I'm thinking about exactly what I want to put in it. I pretty much know what I want:
3-4 longfin zebra danios
2-3 otto cats
and 1-2 dwarf blue gouramis.
but there's where I'm hitting a road block. should I get 1 or two gouramis. I've read that they can be skittish and that its good to keep them in pairs, but I'm not sure if my tank can handle it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you get 2 females, I don't suggest getting 2 dwarf gouramis, not even a male and female pair. A 10g isn't big enough IMO for male aggression. If you can only find males, then get just 1. 2 males will fight until one dies. I've tried keeping 2 together in a 10g and it ended in death (i was very inexperienced at the time). A m/f pair probably won't work either IMO as the male will harrass the female. A trio is best, but there isn't room in a 10g for that. Just stick to 1. ;)
