strange smell

there is a very strange disgusting smell in my cycling 32 g.it smells like rotting seafood or dead fish .it is a very foul.what could this be could it be the rotting food i have in my tank to cycle or what?

what did you use to cycle the tank. It could be rotting something. I have never really had smells from my tank. If I do notice a slight odor, I will add some carbon into the filter at the next pwc and good to go.

count all your fish and if ones missing, begin to hunt for it, or if ytou have any freshwater clams, snails, crabs or shrimp, check them all out

The tank is in a fishless cycle using fish food.

I'm confused. For a fishless cycle with fish food, is the food supposed to rot? Or not? That is, do all tanks cycling fishlessly smell terrible, or is there just too much food in there or something?

Yes, the food basically rots. If cycling with fish food or raw shrimp, it is going to smell bad.
