Subsrate??

Can anyone tell me if this will work? I want to add fluorite or some sort of fertilizer as the base substrate but i already have National Geographic white sand currently in my tank . Can i siphon the sand out add in the fluorite then put the sand back on top without going through another cycle?

Changing your sand out should not have any impact on your cycle.

Very little of the bacteria will be in the sand. Just make sure you keep you filter stable while you do it.

Also, I don't think you will be able to siphon out your sand unless it is very fine. I think it more likely you will want to drain the water and scoop it out.
