I really want black sand in the 10g I'm setting up but I don't want to pay the pet store prices ($20 and up for 20lbs). I think I remember seeing somewhere in this forum that someone had used Black Diamond blasting sand and I was curious if it is usable in a planted aquarium?

The plants are all going to be root tab and ferts so I'm not going to pay the crazy prices for eco or the other plant substrates. I just want a decently priced black sand so I can spend money on the plants and not all of it on the substrate.

Yes black diamond will be fine for plants

Thank you! I am getting the substrate and plants for the 10g today because the filter comes in tomorrow to begin the cycle. I want to have everything setup and ready to cycle.
