Have 6 mid sized red belly piranhas, had them for about a year and a half, I am getting really bord of them and thinking of getting rid of them to get different fish,,, will this affect the cycle of my tank, or just cause a mini cycle?,, never done this before,,, thanks for the help

If you intro any new stock shortly after rehoming the rbp's it shouldn't effect your biofilter at all.

Yep, it depends on how long you wait in between adding more fish. If it's less than a week then the biofilter should be fine (but I'd test daily anyway to be sure) as long as it's kept wet and preferably has oxygen either from running them on the tank or putting an air stone in with it if you're going to put it in a bucket. More than that and the bacteria could start dying off. Or you could dose the tank with some pure ammonia to feed the bacteria until you get fish.
