I posted this question in another part of the forum- but who had done a tank reseal on a large aquarium? 240 gallons large....the seals look rough and there is silicone over silicone in here. The previous owner also had it filled, but then let it sit empty for many months until now. I am not leaning towards a complete tear down, but rather removing the seals that will be constantly exposed to water, and then resiliconing them only (not the seals in between the glass panels...) what are your thoughts?

It's easy enough to do a reseal.
Cut away old joins, use a razor blade. MIND YOUR FINGERS!

Clean thoroughly, recheck for any missed silicone, repeat until satisfied.
If you use water to clean away old silicone allow tank to dry completely.
Reseal. . . Wait to cure.
Ta daaaaa!

It takes a while cutting away old stuff but it can be done. It's just time consuming.
Be patient, attack one joint at a time and work your way around.
Try not to cut into the joint that actually sticks the panels together. (Follow the line don't cut in)

Hope that helps!
