I have 8 gold barbs in my 40 gallon tank that keep pulling up my newly planted dwarf hair grass. I'll be leaving on Sunday for a week and since I won't be able to replant the DHG while I'm gone I was wondering if it would be a horrible idea to move the barbs to my 10 gallon for the week to give the DHG time to root some. The 10 gallon currently has a male beta and 5 neon tetras

I wouldn't, the gold barbs would go after the betta. My gold barbs uprooted, and I think ate, my dwarf sag. So your not the only one! I think it would be best to leave them in there.
