Test kits.. do they go bad?

hey all.. someone gave me an older test kit today... its one of those deluxe Fresh Lab 7 in one kits..

Not sure how old it is.. but do the chemicals go bad after a while?

Just curious.

Yes, all test kit will go bad. Check the expire date printed on the box or bottle.

Usually one year is about it for them. AP test kits list the manufacture date on them, not an expiry date, so if it was manufactured over a year ago get a new one.

Funny story about old test kits. I went into a brand new pet store that opened in town. Bought an ammonia test kit, it had expired in 2002!! This was just a few months ago. I was SO mad!! Made me wonder where they get the stuff they sell. needless to say, I didnt go back. But now I always check for an expiration date before I leave the store.
