Thoughts/Opnions Wanted On Fake Plants.

I am currently unhappy with my Discus tank. The tank does not do the Discus any justice what so ever, So now that I have purchased some live rock for my new saltwater tank and have completed my turtles tank and my Cockatoo's/Angels tank, It is the turn for the Discus tank.

I am giving up with live plants because I find it harder to maintain clean water with them in there due to debris etc ... so I am considering changing it so it resembles the tank my angels and cockatoo's are in.
I wanted to know what people thought of this tank set-up (images below) and whether it will be suitable for 4 small Discus, i.e. do you think the discus will like it? And do you think it will look better?

Thank you in advance.

S.Askham

The plants attach on the back glass which means that there is some room behind them for fish to take cover if it is nessicery.

Ashley, they are just fake plants but I didnt think they looked fake lol. So I will purchase some for my Discus tank. The tank images above are the home to Angelfish and Cockatoo's. Note that on the images there are plant pots however now there are coconut huts.

fake plants look horrible in the foreground, but your placement makes them look pretty neat.

generally I say to avoid them because they are algae magnets, but in this case, they look pretty useful and good

Look around for 'reptile plants', they are recommended for reptiles i.e. use in vivariums but I did a bit of research and the result was that they would be fine int he aquarium. They just stick onto anything, so I am going to have mine along the back and sides of the tank. You can still aquascape with them as some pieces are like lego and you can pull them off and you could even plant them under your substrate so it looks like a 'carpeter'. Having them stuck on the back gives just as much even more areas for fish to hide/feel secure. Which is a problem in my discus tank lol.

The only thing is they can get a bit pricy and obviously you need alot for the tank to look real i'll have a look on net and try to post images/links for use.
