Tiger Barb Minimum Tank Size?
I have a Tiger Barb, 4 inches, in a 10 gallon US tank, all by him/herself. Plenty of rocks, no plants. How long can i keep this Oscar in this tank? When would a bigger tank become necessary? How do I figure when it is time to move ?

Okay a tiger barb and oscar are 2 different fish. I assume you mean oscar only as a tiger barb doesn't get that big. I would get that oscar into another tank [acronym:b348466b1b="As soon as possible"]asap[/acronym:b348466b1b] due to the fact that the longer he remains in there the more stunted his overall growth will be. You really need a minimum of a 55 gallon tank to house a single oscar, though bigger is better. A 4 inch fish that likes to swim is already way to big for a 10 gallon tank.

I think you mean you have a Tiger Oscar, that's a NO-NO for a 10 gallon tank, as tkos said it will stunt it's growth. your Tiger Oscar can grow to 14" so i would either take him back to where you got him or buy a bigger tank 55gal plus.

Oops. I really intended to write Tiger Oscar (but since I also have Tiger Barbs in other tank, I guess the error was Freudian). Thanks for the advice. What about putting him in a 20 or 35 [acronym:55952e9a41="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:55952e9a41] tank?

The 35gal tank would be better than the 10 [acronym:598e51cb9d="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:598e51cb9d] tank and then you could go from there.
