Too many filters?

I do not recommend U3's, I would reommend a hang on the back filter (aqueon) if you are looking for a relativly cheap but good solution for filtration.
 
No, that's not too many filters. usually, more filtration is better, as long as your flow rate isn't too high.

Buy a external filter I did.
I had two fluval u3 filters they where ok but had 2 clean them quite regular buying a external filter was the best thing I could of done now tank is crystal clear all the time just waiting on UV light to come

Yeah I'm trying to keep the water as clean as possible because one of my fish has a damaged fin.
