Ok what are some ideas to break up the force of water when filling up tank after a water change?? I pump water from two large 5 gal buckets into my 29gal tank, the hose is 1/2 inch ID with a nylon sock over the end and the end in a plastic bottle with multiple holes drilled in it BUT the incoming water still stirs up the bottom and remaining junk from the recently vac. gravel!! I don't think this is very healthy for the fish. The tank settles down after about an hour.:thanks:

I put a small plate in the tank

Lay the plate gently down on the bottom of the aquarium before you refill the tank, being careful not to crush plants or fish. Then pour the water onto the plate. The plate disperses the water stream so it doesn't stir up the substrate as much. You still might have some junk stirred up, but it should be much less.
