They'll do fine with that substrate. You need to give them time to acclimate. As I said earlier, the more kuhlis the better. The fewer you have, the less of their typical behavior you'll see.

Unfortunately the pleco (hillstream loach ) died. Found him dead this morning. I think the temperature of the tank was to high for him.

Stingray Pleco aka Hong Kong Pleco aka Borneo Sucker best known around my area as Hillstream Loaches.

Kinda depresses he died. I tried to get the tank just right for him. Had the extra current and oxygenation, had food for him. I just didn't have the info about the temp. They like cooler water & my tank stays at 78*.
