troubles with cleaning

Hey guys,
My mom is having trouble with her fish tank. She has 3 gold fish, a 3" pleco, and one snail in a 10 gal tank. Every time she vacuums the gravel a fish gets sick and dies. The tank is about 3 months old. Any thoughts?

When she cleans the gravel suggest that she only do 1/2 of the substrate surface at a time. It could be she is 'over cleaning' the tank and causing higher ammonia levels after the tank cleaning.

Also ask her if she is using any kind of ammonia based cleaner around the tank. If so ask her to discontinue useing that and opt instead for a damp rag.

When she vacums and cleans the fish are not getting sick but be in stressed out i recommend using stress cote fro doc wellfish
