Look into Bushy nose plecos. Get a male with all his whiskers already...
They can look rough and would fit your tank size and compatibility needs .

I don't think any fish is ugly but I would never buy a pleco. But then some people buy the most expensive plecos. Its to each his own thing in the end I guess. Some people I know feel disgust when they see turtles but I love turtles and tortoises.
