Well, i finally figured out how to get my heater working and i have it set to around 80-82 degress. my tank has 1 blue gourami, 3 tiger barbs, 2 serpae tetras, and 2 red phantom tetras. do you think this is the correct temperature or is this a little high?

Usually they are accurate within 1-2 degrees so I wouldn't set it higher then 80

well, the temp setting on heaters are notorious for being off - I would get a good quality (glass - not stick-on) thermometer for your tank if you dont already have one and then set the heater so that it keeps your tank's temp around 78
