used saltwater tank for my freshwater fish?

Does anyone know of a reason why I should not do this? I think I read somewhere that a saltwater tank, once used in that capacity, should not be later turned into a freshwater tank. Something about the seals?

If you clean it well, it should be no problem at all. You may want to fill it outside somewhere for a leak test, but there should be no issues with switching it over.

I agree. My African cichlid tank was once a SW tank (bought it used from someone) and I rinsed it well and tested it for leaks. I haven't had any problems.

I agree with Rich and JOM. Check the seals to ensure they do not leak. If they don't, you'll be fine.
