Used tank sterilization

As some of you might have read I recently purchased a 29 gal tank and I was talking with my niehbor about it. And she said she had 20 gal hexagon that she was having problems with and is ready to give up well she gave it to me. And now i want to sterilize and start fresh any sugestions. Keep in mind my basment is concrete and i have a drain so I can get sloppy if need be . thank you in advance for any advise.

Welcome to AA, Brant!
Nice acquisition! If you keep in mind the fact that hex tanks cannot be stocked as densely as similarly sized standard tanks, you shouldn't have problems.

I'd suggest old clothes, old sneakers, dishwashing gloves, some household bleach, and a clean washcloth. Wipe down the inside of the tank with bleach diluted 1:10 in water, then rinse it silly.
For most of us, this is most easily done on the driveway with a garden hose, but since you have a floor drain, you can work inside without having to fill/drain the tank ad nauseum using a siphon hose. 8)

Just be sure to rinse really, really well until you can't smell bleach any more....and then rinse again for good measure. The first time you fill the tank, you can even use a double-dose of dechlorinator just to be safe.
