are they helpful for a freshwater tank or will it kill the good bacteria or is it just wasting energy?????????

it should be decent it basically kills all free floating organisms which are harmful
and btw..........just so u know most of the good bacteria is NOT in the water column, its in the filter(75%) and the substrate(25%)

otherwise u'd have mini-cycles everytime u did a 75% WC!!!!!!mg:

it also would kill algae in its free floating form b4 it starts growing on objects......

i would only buy one if it was under $50......

Oh ok thx ive had it since 09 when I had my reef and well pretty much its been running and wanred to know if it was worth keeping I changed the bulbs on dec

I run a UV sterilizer on my 75 gallon high tech planted and wouldn't think twice about buying one again. I love mine.

Ya ive been looking for some not sure wat tho, I was thinking some dwarf hair grass or simething cool that will grow med to fast, my lights are 2x54 watt t5ho one bulb its 6500 k the other 12000 k and I also have the regular flouresent light, the tank its a 75 n im using root tabs n diy co2
