Uv sterilizers

I a pretty new still to fish keeping. My question should you leave UV Sterilizers running all the time? Or just for short periods?
I have been using to clear up cloudy water in my 29 gal. Tank. Thanks

That is up to you. It won't hurt leaving it on continuously. I personally use my UV sterilizer when my tank is cloudy from large tank plantings that disturb the substrate, but otherwise, I don't use it.
