Is it true that you don't have to do gravel vac's when you do partial water changes with a planted tank? TIA
 
It depends, you don't have to gravel vac near the plants roots, but if you have spots were no plants are rooted, you should vacuum there.
So, if every inch of your substrate is planted, no, you don't have to gravel vacuum :p

Makes sense. Leave nutrients where plants roots exist... clean up places where roots don't exist. Thanks. I was wondering if the "stuff" in the gravel moved around enough so that you didn't need to get the spots... Thanks again for the complete answer.
