I have a quick question about Seachem Prime. I know it's primarily used to kill chlorine, but does it also lower ammonia levels? I'm cycling my tank and currently dosing the ammonia from about 1ppm to 4ppm. next time I do a 50% water change, I want to start using the Prime but I'm not sure if that would affect my ammonia levels?

:thanks:

thanks! :)

it says its safe to use during cycling. since I am still trying to build up the healthy bacteria, would the bacteria still be able to feed off of the converted detoxified ammonia, or would the bacteria starve?
:thanks:

The bacteria will still feed off it. It just in a form that is not toxic to fish used in my tank in case of spikes and never had problems

Prime doesn't lower total ammonia levels. It temporarily binds the ammonia lowering free ammonia. It shouldn't effect your cycle.
