Water softeners
I was wondering how many of you out there use a water softener? I think I have pretty hard water because I often have a problem with deposits in my shower. I have never used a softener though. My freshwater fish include: one fancy goldfish, 3 cory cats, and one male betta. Do I need a softener for these fish? If so, how can you tell when your water is soft enough?
P.S. I also have a sw tank and I use the same water for it. Thanks, Steph

I'm using Aqua FX Baracuda R/O de-ionized water system. My Discus have told me they love their soft water!
With your fish, it's possible you may not need soft water...
