Hey so while cleaning my tank I noticed my filter pump wasn't really outputting a lot of water even with a new filter. After looking around I took the intake tube apart and found it clogged with green hair like algae. My planted tank is clean of algae though. I though algae needed light to grow? The infant tube is black plastic and appears to be pretty light proof.
I have found it once a week ago... Tank was in shameful condition (im very helpful for the people who helped me with that) but algae free. Today just to be sure it wouldn't reclog, I took the intake tube off and cleaned it and got out plenty more algae...
What am I dealing with and how do I stop it? Thank you
