weird smell and cloudyness

All of a sudden, I have a weird smell coming from my tank and the water is cloudy. What could be causing this and what can I do about it? Should I empty the tank, clean it, and readd everything to it? I need to move the tank upstairs anyway, and this would be a good time to do so.


Any thoughts?

how long has your tank been set up? the smell could be ammonia. are there any dead fish?
