The runt died, but the rest of them gobbled up an assload of lettuce. Apparently they really liked that. They seemed to be in pretty good shape, and two of them REALLY wanted out of the cage. So, this morning I took them out onto my back deck, and one at a time I gently tossed them into the air off my deck. All but one flew almost perfectly, so it seems they regained their strength. The one that didn't fly perfectly was able to hover at the same height for about 20 feet to land on a tree branch.
I hope they do alright. I wasn't expecting to be keeping them long if I wanted to actually release them at some point since I know how they can get imprinted on you.
