Hey all, I'm wondering what everyone uses for lighting on a 40 gallon breeder tank, as its 18in wide...

I'm trying to not spend too much on lighting, but I'm starting to think in going to need 2 fixtures:-(

Thanks for any input!

What are you trying to accomplish on this here tank sir?

As Brookster said, depends on what you want. I like my 36" Finnex FugeRay. It's good with low light plants, crypts, vals, anubias, swords, etc. I've had it for a few years and it's still working fine.

I am hoping to turn it into a planted tank, with angels and Rams....

Something low light to Medium....

That finnex one sounds awesome, but it's quite expensive...

Do you have 1 on your tank? How many watts is it?

Yep, I've had one on my 40b for a couple of years.
18 Watts: 168 7000k LED / 12 Actinic LED. You can find more specs on amazon. Imo it's on the lower end as far as cost goes for a decent LED fixture. I didn't want anything high maintenance and my tank is nothing fancy, so it works well for me. I'm thinking about adding a ram or 2 to my community :) I used to have a gorgeous male GBR but he only lasted about 4 months. My system is way more mature now, so hopefully I can find a good breeder around.
