What happened to my favorite fish store?!?!?!

Two weeks ago when I was there, all their tanks were beautiful, fish were swimming around, everyone looked healthy (and this was three or four days after shipments had arrived). Today I got there and almost all their freshwater tanks just looked awful. The baby rams all had ick and were in with a bunch of angel fish, some dead on the bottom. In a couple of other freshwater tanks there were some fish near death. A pictus cat breathing heavily. A cory and a peacock eel (is that correct?) laying on the substrate next to eachother barely breathing. In their planted tank one of the platies looked like its scales were about to raise (almost like dropsy). It was awful! However, their saltwater tanks have never looked better. Is this bad management or did they run into bad luck?? They were the only fish store in Boone that I trusted, now I'm not sure what to think. Oh, and I was asking about buying a used tank and the manager went right to the register and started giving me price quotes on brandnew stuff, and not the middle grade, but the most expensive stuff he carried!! I don't know what to think...

Not sure, but a similar thing happened at my [acronym:173296342d="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:173296342d]. [acronym:173296342d="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:173296342d] fish missing fins, some fish only moved one fin, some fish were almost at "floating" stage, inverts were disintegrating. I asked about it, guy said they had some problem with the temperature control.

[acronym:173296342d="Freshwater"]FW[/acronym:173296342d] fish seemed O.[acronym:173296342d="Kelvin or Potassium, depending on context"]K[/acronym:173296342d]. though, although they did have the usual "no guarantee on fish in this tank" tank. Even they looked better than the [acronym:173296342d="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:173296342d] fish.

Surprised me because usually both types were in good condition.

you know alot is distributors, and with all the hurricanes and whatnot.... just a thought...
you know i've never been in a [acronym:fa35ccbd0f="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:fa35ccbd0f] i really admired though not in this area, and the local distrib they ALL use cant even supply nor order by sci name. i went in and i was like what about glossostigma, and he was like whats the common name, and showed me his supply sheets and it was AWFUL. i thought man, as the hobbyist i know better distros. so... could just be where you are. i'm on the cusp of the rockies so getting anything here costs twice As much, takes twice as long, and is half as guaranteed than if i lived say in denver, or chicago, or anywhere on the east coast

yup, normally everyone looks great at this store. I didn't ask the owner what was wrong because I don't know him all that well. I normally only go when I see the red toyota truck of another guy that works there. He doesn't try to sell me the most expensive stuff and we can chat for ever (so long as the owner isn't there... if he is, we sneak quick conversations... it is actually pretty fun). Oh well, I might make another trip back to see if y buddy is there and ask him what happened.
